Announcer: The e-Learning Lingo Podcast.

Mary Kay Lofurno: Hello. This is Mary Kay Lofurno, Marketing Director here at SyberWorks. Welcome to the 89th episode of the e-Learning Lingo Podcast series.

Last week, Dave Powell talked about “nutshelling.” This week Dave defines “webinars.” So I ask you, do you know your e-Learning Lingo?

Mary Kay: Hi Dave, tell us about webinars?

Dave Powell: The term webinar comes from the words “web” and “seminar.” Thus, a webinar is a small synchronous online learning event, in which the presenter and communicate using text chats, audio, slides and electronic white boards.

Mary Kay: OK, sounds good. But what is the difference between a webinar and a web conference, Dave?

Dave: You sound skeptical, ah?

Mary Kay: No.

Dave: A webinar is a specific type of web conference, that is usually conducted in the format of a single speaker instructing several remote listeners.

Mary Kay: Good to know Dave. Have a great afternoon!

Dave: You too. Talk to you soon.

Mary Kay: This is Mary Kay Lofurno, Marketing Director at SyberWorks. Thanks for listening to episode 89 of the e-Learning Lingo Podcast.
