Announcer: The e-Learning Lingo Podcast.

Mary Kay Lofurno: Hello. This is Mary Kay Lofurno, Marketing Director here at SyberWorks, and welcome to the 42nd episode of the e-Learning Lingo Podcast Series.

Last week Dave Powell discussed the ADDIE Model. This week Dave explains a term used in Internet legislation: cybersquatting.

So I ask you, do you know your e-Learning lingo?

[theme music]

Mary Kay: Hi Dave! So what’s cybersquatting?

David Powell: Cybersquatting is the illegal act of registering or using a domain name to benefit from someone else's respected trademark. At some point the cybersquatter usually offers to sell this domain to the legitimate trademark holder, but at a price well above the going rate that the cybersquatter originally paid.

Some cybersquatters even post derogatory remarks about the company or person the domain is meant to represent in an attempt to encourage them to buy it back.

Mary Kay Lofurno: Thanks, Dave, for that explanation. Have a good afternoon!

David Powell: You too. Talk to you soon.

Mary Kay Lofurno: This is Mary Kay Lofurno, Marketing Director at SyberWorks. Thanks for listening to the 42nd episode of the e-Learning Lingo Podcast.

This week Dave Powell talked about cybersquatting. The episode 42 podcast audio and transcript will be posted on the e-Learning Lingo blog.

Next time on the e-Learning Lingo Podcast we will discuss a term used in e-Learning theory. Until that time, have a great week.
