Mary Kay: All right Dave, what is a Uniform Resource Identifier?

Dave Powell: A Uniform Resource Identifier, or URI, identifies the application used to access a resource on the Internet. It also identifies the machine on which the web resource is located, as well as the file name of the resource.

Mary Kay: All right Dave. Sounds good. Are there any other uses of the Uniform Resource Identifiers?

Dave: URIs can also provide users with a complete Internet address for the information they have obtained, and can tell them whether it consists of texts, graphics, audio, or video.

Mary Kay: All right. Thanks Dave. Have a good afternoon.

Dave: You too, Mary Kay. Talk to you soon.
