Announcer: The e-Learning Lingo Podcast.

Mary Kay Lofurno: Hello, this is Mary Kay Lofurno, Marketing Director here at SyberWorks. And, welcome to the 101st episode of the e-Learning Lingo Podcast series. Last week, Dave Powell talked about “Andragogy.” This week, Dave defines “Venn diagrams.” So I ask you, do you know your e-learning lingo?

[theme music]

Mary Kay: OK Dave, tell us about Venn diagrams?

Dave Powell: A Venn diagram normally uses the areas inside and outside two or more overlapping circles to represent the relationships between objects, concepts or groups of items. This allows one to consider and analyze these relationships in general terms without worrying about the item's detailed properties.

Mary Kay: All right. So, give us some examples on how Venn diagrams are used Dave.

Dave: They are most often used in the fields of logic, statistics, set theory, computer science and probability. But in an e-learning context, they can help students to see and analyze the relationships between items, concepts and subjects.

Mary Kay: All right, sounds good Dave. Have a great afternoon.

Dave: You too, talk with you soon!

Mary Kay: This is Mary Kay Lofurno, Marketing Director at SyberWorks. Thanks for listening to episode 101 of the e-Learning Lingo Podcast. This week, Dave Powell talked about Venn diagrams. The episode 101 podcast audio and transcript will be posted on the e-Learning Lingo Podcast blog.
