Why training for entry-level employees should not be overlooked

Employee training is a critical factor in the success of any business. Not only do employees need training to ensure a safe and compliant workplace, but it is an investment that ensures workers have the skills necessary to help businesses be innovative in a competitive market.

However, training can be expensive, leading some companies to eliminate it from the budget in order to save on costs. For college students just entering the workforce, receiving training in their first job out of college may be an expectation.

A recent Forbes article reported that "a staggering 80% of 2014 graduates expect to be formally trained by their first employer, while more than half of those who graduated in the past two years report receiving no training in their first position," according to a study by Accenture.

The article goes on to note that the lack of training for entry-level employees is due to financial limitations, rather than a changed perspective on the value it brings. Although this approach of eliminating training may save money, it can result in a loss of talent. For companies looking to recruit talent, it was found that education was a benefit.

With a learning management system, companies are able to deliver comprehensive training that is affordable and scalable to unique needs. Employees will benefit from e-learning courses that allow them to learn at their own pace and easily complete training from remote locations. A learning management system allows employers a flexible solution to manage all of their training needs, saving time and money.
