OSHA is offering $7 million in grants to fund employee training.

Safety concerns should be a priority for every company. The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recognizes this importance, as it has recently announced that it is soliciting application for the Susan Harwood Training Grant Program.

Through the program, $7 million will be made available to help non-profit organizations, labor unions, colleges and universities, community and faith-based organizations and joint labor/management associations achieve their training goals, according to a press release. The release states that "two types of safety and health training grants will be awarded: Targeted Topic Training and Capacity Building; approximately $3.5 million will be available in each grant fund."

Part of this grant program's goals include providing training and materials for workers in order to determine where workplace hazards are taking place and how to prevent accidents and illnesses. OSHA is now accepting applications for this program.

"These grants play an important role in ensuring worker safety and health. By providing training to employees on their rights and employers on their responsibilities, the Susan Harwood grants are making sure that workplace safety is the number one priority on any job site," said U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez in the press release.

The availability of this grant money underscores the important role employee training plays in ensuring a safe and productive workplace. A learning management system provides a scalable way for employers to manage and deliver training according to the unique needs of their company and industry. By providing adequate employee training, organizations take an important step in creating a safe and compliant workplace.
