OSHA extends safety training partnership program

OSHA continues to emphasize the importance of training programs to ensure worker safety.

OSHA continues to emphasize the importance of training programs to ensure worker safety.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recently added a new collaborator to its Strategic Partnership Program and renewed an existing partnership. The Program includes government agencies, private companies, trade unions and universities, all of which come together with OSHA to ensure that safe practices are observed during major projects and to provide safety training to workers and supervisors.

CDI Contractors is one of several companies taking part in the construction of an outlet mall in Little Rock, Arkansas, which will open to the public in the summer. OSHA and CDI will work together for the duration of the project to bring safety and health programs to all involved contractors and subcontractors in order to minimize the risk of on-site accidents and injuries.

"The strategic partnership between CDI and OSHA affirms a shared commitment toward providing a safe work environment during the project's construction," said OSHA's Little Rock area director, Carlos Reynolds, in a statement. "This agreement will help to ensure that goal is accomplished."

OSHA also renewed its partnership with The Samuels Group, a Midwestern construction company. They originally signed the agreement in April 2012, when The Samuels Group began replacing a nine-story curtain wall at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The second phase of the project, which involves about 50 workers, began recently.
